Bats are an essential part of our ecosystem, eating pesky insects and pollinating crops, but we haven’t seen them much this year.
Thrilled to report that we set up a bat house and heard big brown bats, little brown bats, and possibly a hoary bat on June 30th, under the tutelage of Dr. Brian Hickey.
My husband found a single raspberry growing next to our driveway and gave it to me. It was the sweetest I’d had in my life. Today we found a few more raspberries, so I insisted that he and our children try them.
The wild strawberries have returned to the Earth, but these raspberries, wild cherries, red currents, and apples are on their way. Even though we don’t garden, every year, our land provides rhubarb, asparagus, and more.
I love walking our dogs at night, amidst the firefles.
Even after all this time
The sun never says to the earth,
“You owe Me.”
Look what happens with
A love like that,
It lights the Whole Sky.
